I've owned every generation. The V3 strips away the RGB bloat and focuses on pure performance. The hump position is slightly higher which fits my grip better, and the weight reduction is very noticeable in long scrim sessions.
Performance-wise it's perfect. My unit has a tiny creak in the shell if I squeeze it, which I basically never do. Can't dock more than one star for that.
